The SCIP database was developed to improve the recycling and long-term replacement of substances of very high concern (SVHC) in products to protect people and the environment. All companies whose products are placed on the market in the EU and contain SVHC above 0.1 per cent by mass will be obliged to submit information to this database from January 2021. In our Info-Point you can read more about the background and challenges. The requirements for the data to be submitted are complex and require good preparation.
imds professional supports you in all questions and tasks concerning the SCIP database:
- We help you to understand and evaluate the substances used in your products.
- We help you to transmit the information to the SCIP database.
Our services in detail:
Web-Consulting
In dialogue with you, we answer your specific questions about the SCIP database and your obligations. Together we analyse your product portfolio and filter out the products and substances concerned. We determine the expected workload and show you the next steps.
Risk assessment
Based on available information such as declarations of conformity, material declarations, test reports, legal disputes, etc., our REACH experts assess the risk of the restricted or declarable substance(s) you use. In this way, you can identify the actual risks for your company and know how to reduce them.
Product and material analysis
In our partner laboratory of the VDE Institute, we can perform an SVHC analysis of your products. The exact composition of a product is determined with the help of the most modern analysis equipment. We provide this information in the desired format.
Data submission
ECHA provides by default for the transfer of data in IUCLID format. We support you in this or take it over completely for you to prepare the data accordingly, transfer it to the tool (via desktop application or cloud) and finally transfer it to the SCIP database. It is also possible to transfer the data via an interface from other systems, for example, the CDX. Here, too, we can advise and support you.
Training
We train you/your employees in the use of the SCIP database. Our online training courses ‘SCIP Database and Reporting Duties (No. 6180)’ and ‘SCIP Database in Practice (No. 6181)’, which build on each other, familiarise you with the background, requirements and handling of the database. In our training calendar, you will find the current dates. We would also be pleased to make you an offer for an exclusive training course.
