The IMDS celebrates its 20th birthday this year - wow. It all started when the automotive industry wanted to have a system to prove that they comply with the European End-of-Life Vehicle Directive (ELV). In the meantime, IMDS can do much more and has become an integral part of the everyday life of car drivers. It was a pioneer and is also a model for other systems for automated material reporting.
