  1. Increased precision for portions
The maximum number of floating point digits in portions is increased from 6 to 9 to allow the input of tiny fragments (e.g. for substances like PFOA)

  2. Wizard for metallic materials
This wizard helps users to select a material MDS name (MMDS) and a default material number. Suppose a default MMDS already exists for this material. In this case, a message will inform the user when releasing or referencing an MMDS.

  3. Support for multi-sourcing

The current scope of this extension only applies to components. It will be possible to refer to alternative MDSs for a component from different suppliers in a new MDS.

One of the alternatives will have to be defined as a preferred alternative, which is used for weight calculations, for example. All other options will also belong to the components of the MDS so that the where-used analysis can also determine their content.

  4. Consideration of the lower threshold for the available selection of application codes

Currently, all application codes are available for selection where an upper limit of the threshold value has been reached. Suppose a substance is not included with at least one minimum value. In this case, the respective application code may not be displayed for selection.

For the time being, this improvement will only apply to application code ‘8(e) – lead in refractory solders (i.e. lead-based alloys containing 85% or more lead by weight)’, which will only be available for materials where lead compounds make up at least 85% of the total material.

  5. Threshold parameters for each where-used analysis in terms of substances

An additional threshold parameter (from/to value) for the where-used analysis in relation to substances is introduced for the following analysis options:

    • Substance
    • List of fabrics
    • Group of substances
    • GADSL/SVHC
    • Application code
  6. Where-Used Analysis for MDBs with recyclate information
A new analysis option for the where-used analysis is introduced to find MDBs that contain a defined percentage of recycled content in a referenced material of a specific classification or a newly created polymer material.

  7. Change in the handling of recyclates for polymer materials
Currently, all recycled material is added to the usage (component/half component) of the MMDS. With the extension, recyclate information for polymer materials (classification 5.*) is added directly at the level of the MMDS by the material supplier. For existing MDS prior to IMDS Release 13.0, the current behaviour is applied.
