BPR: Consultation for two potential candidates for substitution Featured
On the basis of the Biocidal Products Regulation, ECHA has launched a consultation on boric acid (EC 233-139-2, CAS No 10043-35-3) and disodium tetraborate pentahydrate (EC 215-540-4, CAS No 12179-04-3) as new potential candidates for substitution. The deadline for comments is 27 October 2020.
Boric acid acts as a fungicide and insecticide and is used by industrial, professional and non-professional users as a preventive and curative wood preservative for wood and construction timber in service classes 1, 2, 3 and 4a according to the CEN 335-1 standard. The products are applied by vacuum pressure, dipping, injection, spraying / jetting or brushing.
Disodium tetraborate pentahydrate acts as a fungicide and insecticide and is used for industrial, professional and non-professional users as a preventive and curative wood preservative for wood and construction timber of service classes 1, 2, 3 and 4a according to CEN 335-1. The products are applied by vacuum pressure, dipping, injection, spraying / atomising or brushing.
