The IMDS is intended to map the supply chain and materials of each car in order to meet recycling quotas and comply with legal requirements. That's the theory. In practice, the companies that use the IMDS for this purpose always face new challenges due to numerous legal requirements and the individual requirements of their customers. There are also situations in which the system does not exactly map what the user needs or does not know how to enter his case correctly. In addition, new laws and substance bans require new approaches and, above all, users must always be informed about them. And last but not least, the IMDS system is constantly being adapted to the new requirements.
What is the IMDS User Meeting?
In order to meet the resulting need for a platform for exchange, we have created the IMDS User Meeting. We have been using the IMDS since 1999, know the system, know the requirements of and to the automotive industry, know the questions and challenges of the users through numerous training courses and customer projects. Therefore, we wanted to give users the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange information, but also to establish direct contact with experts and the developers of the IMDS. In addition to presentations on current topics and best practice reports from user companies, various topics and challenges will be discussed at so-called theme tables. The participants bring along questions from their daily work and solutions can be worked out with the help of other participants and experts. Also, DXC Technology, the operator of the IMDS, is present, answers questions, takes up suggestions and gives (technical) support.
Which topics are covered?
A review of the first two user meetings shows a broad range of topics:
- Change Management & Data Quality
- Application Codes
- Reporting of E/E components

You will meet experts with many years of experience who will pass on their knowledge through consulting and training. You have the opportunity to ask technical questions to a representative of DXC Technology, the developers of the IMDS. In addition, we collect user requests and forward them to the Steering Committee, which can initiate appropriate extensions.
